Planning Services play a vital role in shaping the built environment of Solihull. Planning Services combines four aspects of building development and land use in Solihull: Development Control, , Building Control and Sustainable Development which includes Landscape Architects. In addition to this Sustainable Development offers a varied and comprehensive programme of environmental initiatives suitable for all ages or types of school, community groups and other organisations.

Development Control & Planning Applications

Includes information about how you can make a Planning Application online, search the application and decision register, comment on or track current applications. You can also view Committee reports/minutes or register an email address for updates on an application or for new applications within a set area of you home or place of work. Development Control are also responsible for trees, listed buildings and Conservation Areas, and enforcement of Planning legislation.

Sustainable Development

The Sustainable Development Team is responsible for creating the planning policies and proposals that set out where, when and how much development will take place in Solihull and against which individual planning applications are assessed. The team is also involved in the development of national and regional planning policy and managing and disseminating census data for the Borough.

Building Control & the Building Regulations

Building Control deals with the Building Regulations Act and regulates the construction of homes and places of work.

Landscape Architects

The Landscape Architects Section aims to protect and enhance the landscape character and ecology of the Borough, through national, regional and local policy and the statutory planning process, affording the highest level of protection for our most valued townscapes and landscapes, wildlife habitats and natural resources.

The team also provides a landscape design and ecological consultancy service providing high quality, creative and sustainable design solutions on a wide range of rural and urban projects.
