Food Enforcement Policy

The policy aims to assist authorities in the fair and open enforcement of legislation.

Introduction

It is recognised that the primary responsibility for compliance with the law lies with businesses and individuals. It is also recognised that the enforcing authority, play its part in providing clear, consistent advice and enforcement.

It is the aim of Solihull's Food team to ensure that food and drink intended for human consumption which is produced, stored, distributed or handled in the Borough is safe wholesome and without risk to health.

Solihull's Food Team, along with representatives from the six other Metropolitan Boroughs of the West Midlands, belongs to The West Midlands Food Liaison Group. The group have prepared a detailed enforcement policy which is applicable to the seven Metropolitan Boroughs across the region.
