How we will use your information

The personal information provided will be used to process the application and to update our records of the membership of governing bodies. It will also be used to contact governors.

Who else it will be shared with

Personal details will be shared with other divisions of the Council involved in school governance. It will also be shared with authorised external organisations e.g. schools, the Department for Children, Schools and Families, police. Your personal details may be shared with the Criminal Records Bureau, but you will be asked to complete a form consenting to a criminal records check.

How long it will be kept

The completed appointment form will be kept for up to 2 years.

How we will ensure it is accurate

When you are contacted Council staff will confirm your details if necessary to ensure accuracy. Also if we are informed of any changes to governing bodies we will update our records.

How we will safeguard it

Information will be held in hard copy format on file in a secure office environment. It will also be held on computer databases that can only be accessed by authorised members of staff within Governor Services.
