Research and Evaluation
All Educational Psychologists in Solihull are required to participate in research activity. Social science research is an aspect of educational psychology training. Solihull Educational Psychology Service (EPS) contributes to research and evaluation that helps develop a local evidence-base of practice.
In the past two years Solihull Educational Psychology Service has:
- Audited parents views about how included they felt in the process leading up to their child’s permanent exclusion from school.
- Gathered pupil’s voice regarding teaching and learning at a secondary school.
- Evaluated a pilot of Welcome to Nursery.
- Evaluated the implementation of the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning Programme (SEAL).

Current Educational Psychology Projects include:
- Surveying 11-18 years olds in Solihull about their experiences of bullying.
- Auditing all of Solihull schools’ Anti-Bullying policies.
- Resilience in Unaccompanied Asylum Seeker Children (UASC).
- Social and emotional aspects of parenting a child with literacy difficulties.
- Developing assessment tools for the Smooth Start Project.
