Educational Establishments

Solihull Educational Psychology Service provides the following to educational establishments, schools, colleges or children’s centres in support of their children and young people.

Consultation

  • Duty Line – telephone discussions for head teachers, senior staff in schools and managers of childcare settings.
  • Face-to-face consultations for school staff by appointment at a secondary school (Pilot at Arden School).
  • Consultation Request Form: For concerns about children and young people relating to:
    • school anxiety
    • bullying
    • at-risk of permanent exclusion from an education setting
    • complex difficulties where there are significant barriers to learning
    • children not settling well into nursery or child care settings
    • early separation anxiety
    • getting along with other children in the nursery
  • Practitioners Support Group (Common Assessment Framework)
  • Welcome to Nursery – Lyndon Ward

Assessment

  • Development requests to provide a range of methods for evaluating educational systems relating to:
    • Anti-Bullying
    • Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning
    • Staff well-being
    • Nurturing environments
    • Community cohesion

Intervention

  • Emergency Advice and Support for Education (EASE) – guidance and response in partnership with the Education Welfare Service
  • Group work to support Anti-Bullying and Personal Safety in Schools (The Children’s Society)

Training

  • National Programme for Specialist Leaders of Behaviour and Attendance (NPSLBA) for school leaders in Solihull (in partnership with School Improvement and Specialist Inclusion Support)
  • Welcome to Nursery - Lyndon Ward

Research & Evaluation

  • Teacher and parent views regarding their mutual beliefs and expectations in the development of a child’s literacy skills
  • Smooth Start programme evaluation (Smiths Wood Sports College)
  • Welcome to Nursery self-evaluation tool

As part of our service to the community, our agreement with local Academies and Independent Schools is to provide Duty Call service and Consultation for school staff, children and families living in Solihull. We can provide Project Work for Academies and Independent Schools for an additional fee.
