Who we are
Solihull Educational Psychology Service is a community based service and aims to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. Our shared vision guides us in how we will work together with you. The work of the service is linked with three main areas:
- Stay Safe - namely anti-bullying related to general bullying, cyberbullying, gender related bullying, homophobic bullying, race, religion, appearance, special educational needs and disabilities.
- Emotional Well-Being and Mental Health - including school anxiety
- Enjoy and Achieve with Learning
What we do
Psychology is about the relationship between thoughts feelings and behaviour. Educational Psychologists apply psychology within the educational system and the community. We promote lifelong development, emotional well-being and satisfying lives for children, young people and their families.
Educational Psychology is a Service in which professionally trained psychologists are held accountable for service practice. Psychologists have an obligation to maintain fitness to practice and keep knowledge and skills up to date to ensure high standards.
We work with:
- Individuals (0-19 years of age) and groups of children and young people and their parents or carers.
- Educational establishments and adults who care for and educate children and young people
- Local officers and practitioners promoting the use of psychological models in cultural and community contexts.
We provide the following services:
- Consultation and advice
- Psychological assessments and interventions
- Professional development and training
- Research and evaluation

How we are doing:
Solihull Educational Psychology Service assesses its effectiveness by applying service standards, seeking out detailed information about the quality of its work from service users and applying a rigorous self-evaluation tool, which centres on the question "is anybody better off?" as a result of educational psychology input. Data about the quality of educational psychology service delivery also includes information about service access.
