We believe that you deserve excellent facilities in Chelmsley Wood town centre.
That is why we are working with the shopping centre owners Fordgate and a project management company called Barton Willmore on a £60m transformation. Advantage West Midlands have also provided £9m of funding.
The new centre will include:
- An Asda supermarket and other shops
- A large shopping space where the library currently stands
- Refurbishing the public malls within the shopping centre and a new entrance
- More car parking and a new bus interchange
- New Council accommodation in the shopping centre; this includes the library, social services and housing office
- New public toilets
- A new Solihull Connect and town centre office space.
Wates Construction is carrying out the building work, and together, we'll do our best to ensure there is minimum disruption to shoppers, traders, and other people living near or working in the town centre.
Key dates:
- Start on site February 2007. Including Banbury Club relocation and work to the highways.
- Construction of ASDA store starts Winter 2007.
- Banbury Club completed Spring 2008.
- New public toilets and bus interchange open September 2008
- ASDA store opens Summer 2009.
- New Library and Connect opens Autumn 2009.
- New shopping area on library site completed Spring 2011.
