Clean up of Babbs Mill Park

Call for clean-up help

12 August - Residents are being urged to come out in force to help with a massive clean up of Babbs Mill Park, which has been plagued by anti-social behaviour.

Environment champions, park rangers and police officers are joining forces with businesses and community groups to wipe away graffiti, pick up litter and remove fly-tipped rubbish at the park. Full Story.

Creating a community garden at Woodbrooke House

How does your garden grow?

12 August - Recovering drug users will be ploughing their efforts into creating a community garden with elderly residents in Chelmsley Wood.

By helping transform the site at Woodbrooke House, a block of flats run by Solihull Community Housing (SCH) for people aged over 55, the rehabilitated addicts hope to make a difference to the community while learning a new range of skills.  Full Story.

The Gas Street Gang family club

Beat the boredom

19 August - A family club for a Solihull estate has been set up to provide activities for children and young people and prevent them being drawn into anti-social behaviour.

The Gas Street Gang is being run at the Christian Renewal Centre during the summer holidays by housing provider Bromford Living, Solihull Council and parents.  Full Story.

Safety crackdown on cabbies

5 August - Solihull taxi drivers have been warned not to cut any corners after ten drivers were cautioned in a joint operation.

Solihull Council joined forces with West Midlands Police to crack down on defective vehicles being used as taxis and drivers who failed to comply with their licensing requirements.  Full Story.
