Specialist Inclusion Support Service
The Specialist Inclusion Support Service offers multi-disciplinary support for children and young people (0-19 years) with a range of special educational needs (SEN). The Specialist Inclusion Support Service works closely with all Solihull's maintained schools and nurseries. The Service offers support in the home and in Early Years settings.
Service Vision
The Specialist Inclusion Support Service exists to enable children and young people with additional needs to feel included in their school or educational setting and to achieve their full potential, thus empowering them to participate in the wider community and to make a positive contribution to society.
The Specialist Inclusion Support Service offers peripatetic support in homes, schools and nurseries or early years setting or in specialist provision based in mainstream schools. Most of the staff are qualified teachers with a wide range of experience and specialist qualifications. Further support is given by a number of highly qualified Inclusion Support Practitioners (specialist Teaching and Learning Support Workers).
The Specialist Inclusion Support Service has a special provision for children with Hearing Impairments (based at Lyndon Secondary School) and two special provisions for primary aged children with Speech and Language Difficulties (base at Hatchford Brook School and Bishop Wilson School). The Specialist Inclusion Support Service also supports the secondary provision of children with Speech and Language Difficulties at Alderbrook School. The Specialist Inclusion Support Service staff base t the these Additionally Resourced Schools work in close collaboration with committed mainstream school staff to provide access to the full National Curriculum.
