How to apply for your child's junior school place
If you are required to apply you will receive an application pack from your child's infant school in September of year 2.
All infant schools are linked to a junior school. Parents of children at the infant school have a guaranteed place at the linked junior school if they wish to accept it. If you want to take up the place at the linked junior school you must still complete the application form and name the school as a preference. Please note that a place is only guaranteed at the linked junior school if your application is received by the closing date.
If you live in Solihull you can apply for your child's school place online.
How do we measure the distance from a home to a school?
If an application for a place at any Solihull school needs a distance measurement this is calculated by our admissions system using ADDRESS-POINT®. ADDRESS-POINT® provides a national grid co-ordinate and a unique reference for each postal address in Great Britain. The grid reference is provided to a resolution of 0.1 metre (10cm). The accuracy of each ADDRESS-POINT® is such that each point will fall within the addressed building.
Admission arrangements for voluntary-aided schools
You can apply for a voluntary-aided school on our application form. Each voluntary-aided school has its own admissions criteria. This will normally take account of your religion and whether you go to church.
