How do we measure the distance from a home to a school?
If an application for a place at any Solihull school needs a distance measurement this is calculated by our admissions system using ADDRESS-POINT.
ADDRESS-POINT® provides a national grid co-ordinate and a unique reference for each postal address in Great Britain. The grid reference is provided to a resolution of 0.1 metre (10cm). The accuracy of each ADDRESS-POINT is such that each point will fall within the addressed building.
ADDRESS-POINT is created by matching information from Ordnance Survey digital map databases with more than 27 million addresses recorded in the Royal Mail Postcode Address File (PAF).
Admission arrangements for voluntary-aided schools
You can apply for a voluntary-aided school on our application form. Each voluntary-aided school has its own admissions criteria. This will normally take account of your religion and whether you go to church.
The Schools Adjudicator has carried out a scrutiny of all admission arrangements for 2009. As a result some schools have made slight amendments to the admission arrangements published in the Primary Education 2009 booklet. The correct admission arrangements for 2009, for all schools who are their own admissions authority, can be seen on this site.
