This is a useful booklet to help children discover their school library and use it more confidently. It can be obtained free-of-charge by contacting Learning Resources and Advice Services. New edition available from Summer 2009.

Class Visits

Arrange a visit for your class to visit their local Solihull Library. This is a good way to familiarise your pupils with the way a library works, how to find a book and information, hear about the latest children's fiction and the range of activities available to them (homework clubs, summer reading challenge, reading groups etc.) at their local library. Make sure all your pupils have a library card. Please contact your local library.

Treasure Chest

Learning Resources and Advice Service organises the distribution of the My Bookstart Treasure Chest to all children aged three in the borough. The Treasure Chests are mainly distributed through nursery settings in maintained and independent schools. If you would like to arrange a delivery to your nursery or if your child is not attending a nursery, please contact the Bookstart team on 0121 704 6984.
