Reading Connects

A DfES-funded National Reading Campaign initiative helps schools enhance achievement through the promotion of reading for pleasure and the development of a reading culture.

Through a free, web-based support network www.readingconnects.org.uk schools are able to access tried and tested ideas developed by schools and key reading related organisations to encourage the reading habit. Schools can access case studies, resources and funding advice and are encouraged to share their experiences through an interactive forum.

Also available are Reading Connects booklets, which include reading-for-pleasure advocacy and ideas, solutions to common barriers and a brief reading-for-pleasure audit. Schools that complete the audit and register two action points on-line are recognised as a Reading Connects school and will receive logos to use on school materials, a certificate and a comprehensive toolkit.
