Solihull Schools Forum

As part of the requirements of the Education Act 2002 all Local Authorities had to establish a Schools Forum.

The main requirement is that Authorities have to consult with their Forums on a wide range of financial matters to do with school budgets and other aspects of education expenditure. Solihull Council fully supported this initiative and now takes the views of the Forum into account when deciding education budgets.

The Council also decided to give the Solihull Schools Forum a much wider consultation role than required by legislation. The Schools Forum now has a number of work groups covering different aspects of education such as staffing, curriculum and special educational needs and they provide reports and recommendations for the Council to consider.

The Schools Forum and its work groups now have over 100 members who meet regularly during the year. The meeting schedule and other information such as membership details are available through this website.
