Solihull in Bloom
Local Projects
One of the best carpet beds in the region
Solihull still practices the skill of planting up 1,000’s of plug plants to make a design. The bed in Malvern Park depicted a design created by a local school pupil and represented the local roots theme. The Enterprise team Gardeners have been planting up the bed for over 20 years and the finished result of over 20,000 plants is always an amazing sight.
Solihull has a famous horticulturalist
Not a lot of people know this, but E H Wilson a plant collector who bought to England many of our common garden plants we love today, lived in Solihull between 1876-1930. So one of our horticulture team decided it would be a fitting tribute to create a E H Wilson bed in Solihull Town Centre which fitted in with the “local roots” theme. Little did we know that his family still live in Solihull and contacted us to say how impressed they were with the garden display.
