Ramada – Green Conference Package
To reduce the carbon footprint created with conference visits to the town, The Ramada Jarvis Hotel, in Solihull, has created a "Green Conference Package" which will give conference organisers the opportunity to sponsor a tree for the Borough as part of their package. We will then plant up the trees as part of the annual planting around the Borough to replace damaged and dead trees. The Ramada Hotel will also be donating money for a tree planting session later in the autumn in Malvern Park, a short walk away from the hotel. Staff from the hotel will be helping to plant the 12 oak trees and a plaque will be placed on site to thank the hotel and staff.
John Lewis - Tree planting event
An interpretation board and a selection of oak trees are being donated by the store John Lewis, in a meadow area of Brueton Park, providing a new canopy level to the existing site. Staff will get involved in the hard work of planting the trees. The new interpretation board will give visitors background information to the site and the species that they can see.
Mell Square Shopping Centre
On an annual basis Mell Square Shopping Centre partner up with us to provide all the bedding, baskets and features in Mell Square. This year we are introducing a larger set of cascading planters for more impact. The Town Centre always looks a picture of colour in the summer and we will continue to work with traders to ensure that Solihull’s displays develop and improve.
Sponsored containers
John Shepherd, one of our local Businesses has kindly sponsored a selection of containers outside their premises. In return the containers will be fitted with sponsor plaques to recognise their contribution to Solihull’s quest for a Britain in Bloom title this year. As a result of the sponsorship we have been able to order additional features to brighten up St Alphege Church at the end of the High Street, incorporating it more in the colour of the High Street and adjoining premises.
