Governing Board
The Partnership Governing Board is a voluntary partnership board that operates as the strategic decision-making and executive body for the Partnership and has overall stewardship of the effectiveness of partnership working in Solihull.
The Governing Board meets on a 6 week cycle; meeting dates can be found further down this page This year the Governing Board has identified 4 key priority areas to focus on, they are:
1) Addressing the needs of Families Facing Complex Issues to provide the leadership required for the integration of services for these families. This recognises the significant opportunity through the National Troubled Families Programme for partners to re-design the way they work together to more effectively support families facing multiple issues. The objectives are to improve outcomes for families and their communities; improve services by providing greater continuity across agencies and opportunities for earlier intervention; and generate financial efficiencies through cost avoidance and increased productivity.
2) To champion the Action Against Poverty Strategy across the four levels of poverty; unemployment, financial stress, housing and family & life chances. The partnership recognises that this is a particular priority as a result of the economic downturn nationally, which has increased unemployment, debt and homelessness in the borough. The Governing Board will ensure that all actions identified in the strategy have a positive impact on reducing poverty. This priority will also ensure that our approaches safeguard vulnerable people affected by the Welfare Reforms and helps people make the transition from welfare to work.
3) Creating more Involved & Inclusive Communities including Volunteering, to maximise the opportunities for hard to reach groups to have a voice, build cohesive communities, strengthen the capacity of communities to help themselves; and increase volunteering levels. The Governing Board will provide the leadership required to support wider community engagement and empowerment enabling communities in Solihull to shape and deliver local solutions to issues that affect them; and;
4) Ensuring a continued focus and investment in Domestic Abuse to develop more early intervention approaches. Tackling Domestic Abuse has been identified as one of the top priorities for both the Safer Solihull Board and the Local Safeguarding Children's Board. In January 2011, the Governing Board agreed to invest a significant amount of Local Area Agreement Reward Money to fund the level of investment required to continue existing activities to support victims of domestic abuse and to develop more early intervention approaches to reduce the number of victims in Solihull.
