Leaf Fall Clearance
Every autumn Solihull Council and its contractor Enterprise work hard to help clear the large quantity of leaves that fall from the trees.
This leaf fall is difficult to predict, but experience shows that the main clear up operation will be needed from mid-October to late December. The majority of leaf fall within Solihull can be managed by the normal street sweeping services. However, there are some areas that due to a high number of trees will require extra leaf clearance.
Therefore the Council has developed a leaf clearing schedule to help deal with these areas. You can find out if your road is within the schedule by looking at the Leaf Fall Clearance Schedule (pdf). If your road is not listed in the schedule, your leaves will be collected as part of the normal street sweeping service.
If there has been a rapid fall of leaves during windy weather then please be patient, as it is not possible to sweep every street in the borough immediately.
Please help us by:
- Taking extra care when walking or driving on wet leafy surfaces.
- Being patient - we have limited resources and cannot clear all areas at once.
- Not sweeping leaves into the road. We know that some people will want to try and help by clearing leaves from their drives and footpaths, however please do not sweep them into the road as this will slow down our street cleaning operation. Also, if you sweep leaves into the road after we have swept your street, we won’t be able to return to your road again until your next scheduled visit.
During the leaf fall period the Council continually monitors how the clearance operation is going. However, if you have concerns about safety on your road because of wet leaves then please contact the Contact Centre to report the issue:
