Street cleaning programme

Information on road sweeping and how to report a problem.

How often will roads be swept?

We mechanically cleanse road channels on a six week cycle.

We operate various different cleansing frequencies depending on the type of area. However, the majority of public highways are cleansed on a two week cycle to remove all litter, rubbish, weeds, animal fouling and any other deposited or abandoned material.

How do I report a problem?

If you wish to request road sweeping in between these scheduled times, please complete the Request for Mechanical Sweeping form attached below.

If the road has been swept more than 5 days ago, an officer will contact you to tell you when the next mechanical sweep is due.

If the road has been swept within the last 5 days, an officer will inspect within 72 hours (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays).
