Information about the naming and numbering of streets, including new properties. We are responsible for ensuring that street name plates are provided and fitted in suitable positions.

How are streets named and houses numbered?

We name all new roads constructed in the Borough. We also number all new properties constructed in the Borough, in existing or new roads. For further information please visit the street naming and numbering pages.

How do I find out the postcode for a new property?

Postcodes for all new properties are issued by the Royal Mail. Telephone enquiries: 0845 111222.

How do I report a problem with a street nameplate?

Use our online form (below). Repairs to street nameplates will be carried out within 5 working days of notification, replacement signs require manufacturing and can take up to 8 weeks to be erected.
