TravelWise

Aims

We are members of the National TravelWise Association and have access to all information dealing with sustainable travel.

TravelWise aims to reduce society's dependence on car use by:-

• Raising awareness of environmental, health, economic and social effects of car use.
• Changing attitudes towards car use.
• Promoting more sustainable modes of travel and lifestyles which require less travel.
• Encouraging action to change travel behaviour.

The National TravelWise Association is made up of local authorities and other public sector bodies such as Primary Care Trusts, Public Transport Executives (in this case Centro) working together to promote sustainable travel.

There is a Regional TravelWise Group which has a key input into travel issues and has become a positive force in the promotion of sustainable travel in the region. This group supports national campaigns such as Walk To School and International In Town Without My Car Day .
