Walking and Cycling Strategy for Solihull

In 2009 following consultation with stakeholders, the walking and cycling strategies for the Borough were reviewed and updated. The purpose of this review and the two plans now introduced was to ensure that the two documents remain relevant as well as setting out the means by which the Council can identify and propose real improvements to encourage and develop walking and cycling opportunities for all within Solihull over the next 5 years.

The Council recognises that Walking and Cycling share many connected themes. In order to ensure that we address this, a joint Action Plan has been developed for the two strategies that set out actions that benefit both forms of travel as well as joint initiatives to maximise efficiency.

It is proposed that the Action Plan will sit as an annex to each Strategy. In this way, the Plan can be reviewed and updated annually as necessary to ensure that it continues to meet the objectives of both strategies and that resources can be appropriately targeted and priorities set.

Copies of both the Walking Strategy and the Cycling Strategy are available to view, download and print if required, using the attachments located on the right hand side of this page.
