Solihull UDP Development Briefs - Former Powergen Site and Adjoining Land

The Council has produced a development brief for the former Powergen Site and adjoining land in Shirley.

The brief has been prepared to guide the future development of the site and set out the principles that any development should follow. The site acts as a gateway to the Borough and offers the opportunity to improve the contribution the site makes to the character of the wider area.

The brief has been prepared by the Council with urban design input from Lovejoy, Landscape Architects, Urban Designers and Planners. The brief was the subject of public consultation during September/October 2005. The Results of the consultation were reported to The Cabinet Member for Regeneration on 28 November 2005.

Some 81 responses were received and these were considered alongside the Council's response to them and a number of proposed changes to the brief, necessary as a consequence of the comments made. At the meeting the Cabinet Member agreed that the development brief for the former Powergen Site and adjoining land, as amended, be adopted as formal Council policy. This decision came into effect on 6 December 2005.

The adopted version of the brief, comprising text and maps, are attached below.

Note: Some of the maps that form part of the development brief are large files that may take a considerable time to download. Please see the document labelled text only if the main document will not open and if you experience difficulties viewing the maps, please contact the Sustainable Development Team (tel 0121 704 6394):
