Solihull UDP Review Process 1998-2006
In October 1998 the Council agreed to review the UDP 1997.

The First Review was a full replacement for the 1997 UDP and rolled the end date forward from 2001 to 2011.
First Deposit
During 1999, the Council considered its views on the principal issues that the Borough will face during the new plan period (1998-2011) and agreed the direction of the UDP Review policies. These were subject to a public consultation in 2000 and resulted in the Solihull UDP First Review being placed on deposit in January 2002.
Revised Deposit
As a consequence of objections to the UDP First Review, changes in Government policy since the First Deposit and emerging Regional Planning Guidance, the Council prepared a Revised Deposit, covering the revised period 2001-2011, on deposit from 16 June 2003, until 28 July 2003.
Public Local Inquiry
The First Secretary of State appointed Mr Stephen J Pratt BA(Hons) MRTPI to hold a Public Local Inquiry into objections to the Solihull UDP Review. The Inquiry took place in the Council Chamber, Civic Suite, Council House, Solihull from Thursday 20 May until Thursday 9 September 2004. A Pre-Inquiry Meeting was held on Monday 1 March 2004.
Inspector's Report
The Council received the report of the Inspector who conducted the Public Local Inquiry into the UDP review on 29th April 2005.
Modifications
The Inspector's Report contains 242 recommendations relating to specific policies, proposals and paragraphs within the Plan. The Council prepared a response to the Inspector's recommendations and amended the Written Statement to show proposed modifications
The proposed modifications were placed on deposit between 3rd August 2005 and 14th September 2005.
Adoption of the Solihull UDP 2006
Following the agreement by Cabinet, on 3rd November 2005, that no further modifications be made in response to objections to the Plan, notice of the Council's intention to adopt the Plan was advertised in November 2005. Following the expiry of this publicity, Full Council, on 7th February 2006 resolved to formally adopt the Solihull 2006 UDP with immediate effect.
