UK Central

Nature of work

UK Central brings together Solihull’s world class business, transport and entertainment assets with the borough’s reputation as an outstanding place to work, live and raise a family, to encourage major UK and international businesses to bring their headquarters and employment opportunities to the borough.

UK Central includes Birmingham Airport/NEC campus, Solihull town centre, the land around the planned High Speed Rail interchange, our two business parks at Blyth Valley and Birmingham International and the Chelmsley Wood regeneration zone.

By maximising the economic assets of Birmingham Airport, the National Exhibition Centre, High Speed 2 and the motorway network UK Central can make a significant step forward in growing the West Midlands’ economy.

UK Central is a key element in Solihull Council’s long term strategy to develop the regional economy. By attracting the right kind of inward investment and encouraging high quality, design-led developments we will create jobs and prosperity for communities across Solihull, not only today but for the next generation too.

With this investment will come the opportunity to fulfil the borough’s requirement to build new homes to support our changing local population, but in a way that puts Solihull in control of the kinds of homes and developments that are built and where they go.

Our work to promote UK Central also enables us to proactively target low carbon industries and cutting edge green technology firms, supporting Solihull’s ambition of becoming a low carbon economy and creating a sustainable and healthy environment for future generations to inherit.
