Family History Groups

Informal history groups can provide help and support if you’re already conducting research.

Groups meet at The Core Library on:

  • Tuesdays 1.00pm to 3.00pm (weekly, apart from the second Tuesday of the month)
  • Wednesdays 2.00pm to 4.00pm (monthly)
  • Thursdays 10.00am to 12.00pm (first Thursday of the month only)
  • Friday 2.00pm to 4.00pm (first Friday of the month only)

Please contact staff at The Core Library to check meeting times, or to get in touch with the groups first. You may contact The Core Library by email at heritage@solihull.gov.uk or call 0121 704 6977.

In addition the following U3A family history groups all meet at The Core:

Caribbean Family History Groups

The Solihull and Birmingham Caribbean Family History Group meets regularly at Solihull Central Library (usually the last Saturday of the month, but please check with the group before coming along). You can contact the group by email at cfhg.sol.birm@gmail.com.

The Jamaican Family Roots Group meets on alternate Saturdays at Solihull Central Library. You can contact the Jamaican Family Roots Group by email at linkjamaica1@gmail.com.

Irish Family History Group

A group for people researching Irish family history meets monthly at the Core Library on the second Tuesday of the month 10.00am to 12.00pm, please email heritage@solihull.gov.uk to check meeting dates or to contact the group.
