Essential maintenance

As part of improvements to our network we will be updating our internet connection from Tuesday 22 to Thursday 24 October 2019.

While we don’t anticipate any downtime you may notice a short interruption of our online services during 6.00pm to 8.00pm.

We thank you for your patience while this work is completed.

eBooks and eAudiobooks

RBDigital logo

Our new eBook & eAudiobook service is provided by RBDigital.

New features include:

  • you only need to register once with your library card, after that you login with your email address and a password of your choice
  • you can now return eBooks once you have finished them
  • you can renew eBook loans if no other customer has reserved them
  • you can now borrow up to 6 eBooks

We are pleased to now offer a wide selection of eAudiobooks, which work in the same way as the eBooks - you can borrow up to 3 of these.

eBooks and aAudiobooks are still available for up to 21 days, and will automatically expire at the end of the loan period unless you return them first. If the item is out on loan you can reserve it and be notified when it becomes available.

Download eBooks and eAudiobooks

Borrowing - existing members

If you are already using our eMagazine service and the RBDigital app, then you can download eBooks/eAudiobooks immediately - just use the username/email address and password you have already set up (If you have the Libro app for the old service you can now delete it).

Contact if you need to check or reset the username/email address and/or password.

Borrowing - new members and new registrations

If you aren’t using the eMagazine service, then you will need to register with RBDigital, which will enable you to borrow eBooks/eAudiobooks and download eMagazines free of charge.

To do this visit RBDigital - select Register, then enter a username and password of your choice, your email address and your library card number - no PIN number is needed.

You can also do this within the RBDigital app, which is free to download from the Google Play Store, the App Store or for Kindle Fire.

In both cases enter the library card number with the SLP in front and with no spaces. If there is an X at the end of the number include this as well.

If you don’t have a library card, here’s how you can join a Solihull library

Using the RBDigital app

The RBDigital app is available for Android and Apple devices and also for Kindle Fires. Its free to download and you use your username/email address and password to login. You don’t need to register it with an Adobe ID, as with the old eBooks service, as this is built into the app.

If you need any help with the app watch this quick video tutorial or use the following instructions.

eMagazines are also available via the RBDigital app; you can choose from nearly 70 titles, and once downloaded the magazines are yours to keep.

eBooks and eAudiobooks on other devices

Our eBook/eAudiobook service is compatible with many eReaders, tablets, computers and laptops, if they allow apps to be installed or ebooks/eAudiobooks to be loaded from a computer. Due to restrictions imposed by Amazon, eBooks will not work with the Amazon Kindle but will work with the Amazon Kindle Fire.

To use eBooks on laptops and computers, you will need to download Adobe Digital Editions and register it with a free Adobe ID, which is designed to prevent piracy of eBooks.

To use eAudiobooks on laptops and computers, you will need to download the RBDigital Media Manager. No other app is needed.

To use eBooks on Kobo devices, see the FAQ

Please see our FAQ if you need further answers. This will be regularly updated as we work with customers and our supplier.

If you need help please contact our supplier through the Help pages on the app and webpage, or contact the library on
