Specialist Inclusion Support Service

The Specialist Inclusion Support Service (SISS) is a peripatetic Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) service. It operates under a team structure consisting of specialist teachers and support assistants (Inclusion Support Practitioners) all of whom have additional qualifications, skills and knowledge in SEND.

  • Sensory and Physical Impairment (SPI) Team (Includes hearing, visual and multi-sensory Impairment and Physical Disability Teams)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Disorders (SLCD) Team
  • Autism Team
  • Communication and Learning Difficulties (CLD) Team
  • Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Team
  • Early Years

The teams provide support to children, families, schools and settings in the form of training, consultation and advice, assessment and advice and/ or direct teaching. In order to do this effectively, the service supports multi-agency working, which involves liaising with other services working with a child/ family and sharing any written advice with professionals involved in the team working around the child or young person.
