Buying an affordable home
We are committed to meeting local needs with more affordable housing. Our partner agency for affordable home ownership is Help to Buy Midlands.
Help to Buy is a range of home ownership products developed to make it more affordable to buy the right home for you.
Shared ownership is ideal if you have a steady income but can’t afford the full purchase price of a home. It enables you to buy a percentage of the property (usually 25% – 75%) with the rest being owned by a housing association. You pay a mortgage on the part that you own, and rent the rest from the housing association. Over time you can increase your share of the property and eventually own it outright.
For information about shared ownership opportunities please go to Help to Buy Midlands at www.helptobuymidlands.co.uk.
Shared ownership aims to help local first time buyers. Priority is given to Solihull Council tenants, those on our housing register and housing association tenants.
Help to buy equity loan scheme
The help to buy equity loan scheme enables you to take out a loan of up to 20% of the property purchase price. The aim is to help you buy a property if you can manage regular mortgage payments, but do not have enough money for the deposit.
Armed forces home ownership scheme
