Getting out and about
There are some great places for you and your children to visit in Solihull.
You can all enjoy our excellent parks and open spaces for example, or take in a show at the The Core Theatre Solihull. Our libraries are great for settling down to a good read too; but there are many more things you can do in the great outdoors.

Children with additional needs
If your child has a special educational need or disability, (SEND), there are number of activities which offer extra support.
Ensuring that children and young people of all ages can have fun and join in, there are a number of specialist activities for children, young people and adults as well as holidays for disabled children. Please search our Family Information Service Directory to find this information.
Knowing what the right activity is for your child may not be easy to work out, but our inclusive activities leaflet can help.
Short breaks and respite care
Giving children and young people with additional needs or a disability the opportunity to take part; short breaks are ideal. From trying new things to making new friends, they're a great way for children to have fun and do something different.
They're also a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to take a break, and enjoy their children doing what they are meant to do; without so much of the worry. Allowing every child to have a full part in community life.
Our Short Breaks Statement sets out the leisure activities and short breaks offered by Solihull Council to children and young people with a disability. It tells you about the range of services available, how to access them and how we consult with parents/carers and children and young people.
Some overnight breaks are taken at Lyndon House. You can read the most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection report for Lyndon House.
For information on short break providers please search our Family Information Service Directory.
