This page will provide updates on the progress of the reshaping education initiative that is now underway, therefore please continue to check this page for up to date information.
There have been some significant changes to the world of education over recent years, not least with rise of academisation, national curriculum changes, a new Ofsted inspection framework, sweeping changes to national funding of education, as well as the impact of the pandemic on schools and the wider education system.
With this in mind, we have developed a discussion paper which aims to begin a wider conversation about our future role in education, and how we move forward to address the challenges.
The Reshaping Education Discussion Paper discussion paper explores a number of the key challenges we are facing and begins to outline our current thinking about the council’s future role and priorities in education – critically asking ourselves ‘what success looks like’ and how we might get there.
There is recognition that we need to build on what we have learnt and move forward in a way which enables a strong sense of collaboration within an increasingly diverse and complex local education system.
