There are a range of day services and opportunities in Solihull if you are aged 18 or over and are living with a physical or learning disability.

Our Community Advice Hubs can provide you with help and direction about how to access day care services.

Day care services in Solihull for people with learning disabilities

Specialist day services for adults with an assessed learning disability are organised into hubs across the north and south of the borough. This is to enable you to be as independent as possible, socialise with others, access the local community facilities and learn new skills or hobbies.

You will also be encouraged and supported to make your own choices, be treated with dignity and respect.

You can take part in a range of activities including:

  • cookery
  • arts and crafts
  • beauty therapy
  • yoga
  • drama
  • sports - archery, cycling, football
  • horse riding
  • going to local entertainment places or places of interest
  • using local gym and sports facilities

The main hub for the south of the borough is:

  • The Hive at Park View Monkspath Hall Road, Solihull, B91 3LU

A second hub is located at The Courtyard, 30 Hob’s Meadow, Solihull, B92 8PN

The Courtyard is a partnership project with a local scout group, St Mary’s Church plus many other community groups and volunteers. A variety of activities take place at The Courtyard including an upcycling group, tending to the garden, drama/poetry sessions at the church. People are also given the opportunity to open up the church and welcome visitors, giving them a real sense of independence.

The main hub for the north of the borough is:

We also have two smaller hubs based at 23a Pike Drive, Chelmsley Wood, B37 7US and Three Trees Community Centre, Hedingham Grove, Chelmunds Cross, B37 7TP.

Pike Drive is a four-bedroom house with a changing place facility. It provides a relaxed, homely environment and enables people to develop their daily living skills such as laundry, tidying the garden and preparing food.

Three Trees is a vibrant centre in the heart of the community allowing people to socialise with new people and take part in a variety of activities. Being located in the Chelmunds Cross village centre the community hub has good public transport links and also enables people to visit the nearby shops and amenities.

At all of the hubs we can provide personal care and individual support that meets specific needs, as well as provide assistance with eating meals, medication and mobility.

Day care services in Solihull for people with physical disabilities

Our Green Acres service is available for adults with an assessed physical disability and sensory needs at the Park View building.

Day services for people with physical disabilities and complex needs, may be provided in small groups or individually.

Green Acres offers a range of activities, including:

  • hobbies and crafts
  • learning new skills such as gardening, cooking and household chores
  • rehabilitation support
  • keeping active and independent
  • therapeutic activities - mindfulness, relaxation
  • going to local entertainment places and places of interest
  • physical activity including mobility exercises

The cost of day care services

How much you pay towards day care services will depend on your financial assessment.

If you are not eligible for care and support from Solihull Council you can still attend the day centre.
