Day opportunities can help you do the things you enjoy, meet new people and learn new skills.  

Day opportunities are available if you:

  • are over 18
  • have a physical or learning disability that we know about
  • have care and support needs that we know about

You can access day opportunities by having a Care Act assessment.

If you need an assessment please ask us for help.

How much do day opportunities cost?

How much you pay for day services depends on your financial assessment.

If we don’t organise your care and support, you can still access Solihull Council’s day opportunities. You can start by organising to visit us..

We have specialist day opportunities across Solihull for adults with a learning disability.

You can take part in a range of activities including:

  • cookery
  • arts and crafts
  • beauty therapy
  • yoga
  • gardening
  • drama
  • sports - archery, cycling, football
  • horse riding
  • going to local entertainment or attractions
  • using local gym and sports facilities

We also provide care and support to meet your needs whilst you are accessing day opportunities.

We’ll help you to:

  • eat your meals
  • take your medication
  • get around, if you need support

There are a number of different hubs that provide day opportunities.

South Solihull

The main hub for is:

  • The Hive at Park View Monkspath Hall Road, Solihull, B91 3LU

A second hub is at:

  • The Courtyard, 30 Hob’s Meadow, Solihull, B92 8PN

The Courtyard is a partnership with a local scout group, St Mary’s Church plus many other community groups and volunteers.

As well as activities, you can also build your independence by opening the church and welcoming visitors.

North Solihull

The main hub is:

  • Colebrook day centre, 291 Bosworth Drive, Chelmsley Wood, B37 5DP

We also have 2 smaller hubs at:

  • 23a Pike Drive, Chelmsley Wood, B37 7US
  • Three Trees Community Centre, Hedingham Grove, Chelmunds Cross, B37 7TP

Pike Drive is a four-bedroom house with a changing place facility that provides a relaxed place where you can build on the skills you need for daily living.

Three Trees is an exciting centre in the heart of north Solihull. The centre is easy to get to by bus and is close to local shops and things to do.

Our Green Acres service is available for adults with sensory needs at the Park View building.

Depending on your needs, we may provide activities in small groups or individually.

Green Acres offers a range of activities, including:

  • hobbies and crafts
  • learning new skills such as gardening, cooking and household chores
  • support after an injury or illness
  • keeping active and independent
  • keeping a healthy mind through - mindfulness and relaxation
  • visiting local entertainment and attractions
  • physical activity including mobility exercises

We fund 2 day centres to support:

  • older people
  • people living with dementia

These are:

  • The Maples at Park View, Monkspath Hall Road, Solihull, B91 3LU
  • Colebrook day centre, 291 Bosworth Drive, Chelmsley Wood, B37 5DP

We aim to provide physical, emotional and social support to people, and respite for carers.

The service provides a well-balanced menu and people can join in a wide range of activities, including:

  • handicraft
  • painting
  • singing
  • gentle exercise groups
  • board games and group games
  • cooking
  • gardening
  • daily tasks such as housework and laundry
  • gentle exercise such as going for walks
  • trips to nearby entertainment venues
  • visiting places of interest

We’ll help you to:

  • eat your meals
  • take your medication
  • get around, if you need support
