• The Core Library
• community libraries
• Home Library Service
• online and digital library services (available 24/7)

Why we need your information

We need your information to:

• process anonymised information about the profile of our library membership 
• contact you about library related matters such as:
  • reservations
  • renewals 
  • membership 
  • issues 
  • outstanding charges 
  • use of computers

Type/classes of information processed

Where relevant, we process a variety of information relating to individuals including:

• name
• age
• ethnicity
• contact details (e.g. telephone number, address and email)

Who information is processed about

We process information about:

• the requester of the library service(s)
• performance information from anonymised data for monitoring purposes

Who information may be shared with

We may share information with organisations that support the delivery of library services including:

• library management system providers
• suppliers of digital library resources and online services
• other local authorities where reciprocal library services are provided
• law enforcement or regulatory bodies where required by law

How long we will keep your information

We will retain personal information in accordance with the Council's retention schedule and only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Library membership records are normally retained for the duration of membership and thereafter in accordance with the Council's retention requirements. 

Certain records may be retained for up to seven years where there is a business, financial or legal requirement to do so.

Transfers overseas

Information is not transferred overseas.
