You can only re-register a birth with us if your child was born in Solihull.
You can re-register a birth if:
- you want to add the father’s details
- the parents have married or had a civil partnership after the birth
When you re-register a new record will be added to the birth register.

There is no charge for re-registration, but certificates cost £12.50.

You must re-register if the natural parents have married or had a civil partnership after the birth of the child.
Adding the father’s details to the birth record
You can re-register a birth if the parents are not married or in a civil partnership and you want to include the natural father.
The new birth record will replace the original one.
Can I change the forename(s) of my child?
You can only change your child’s name within the first 12 months of their life.
