Outreach
Not all young people have access to a youth club or feel confident enough to just turn up to a session. Other young people may simply not know what is on or how to get involved. Outreach is an opportunity to take the youth offer to where they are and offer new opportunities.
Solihull Council is delighted to commission two different types of youth work to support young people to make better choices and offer alternatives to negative behaviours.
Street Studios
Thanks to the success of winning a Million Hours grant from the National Lottery, Solihull council has commissioned the first arts-based outreach programme.
Combining the skills of local professional artists and highly trained youth workers from Meriden Adventure Playground Association, young people of Chelmsley Wood and Maston Green can try:
- mosaic making
- aerial hoop
- videography
- graffiti
- circus skills
- spoken word
- DJ-ing
This summer this highly successful project is being rolled out to:
- Smith's Wood
- Castle Bromwich
- Kingshurst
- Shirley
- Blythe

Youth Bus
You can’t miss the Solihull Youth Bus when it is driving around the borough. Designed by local young people, the bus is a mobile, safe space.
The bus has been converted to have power from its solar panels, with seating inside and an awning creating space on the outside, the bus is a flexible space for workshops and activities.
