ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) funding

Find out information about the Solihull Informal ESOL Small Grants Programme.

We are welcoming applications for grants of up to £5,000 through our Solihull Informal ESOL Small Grants Programme from Solihull-based:

  • voluntary, community and faith organisations
  • registered charities
  • constituted community groups 

Funding is available to:

  • provide informal, community-based English language opportunities for Afghan refugees 
  • help people to build confidence and practise everyday English 
  • support people to develop stronger connections within their local communities

Activities

Activities could include:

  • conversation groups
  • family learning 
  • community events 
  • cooking 
  • crafts
  • digital skills 
  • other practical, social and engaging opportunities to use English in real life settings

Projects should be accessible, welcoming and community focused. They should support integration and participation for adults, children, young people and families. 

Childcare provision can also be included where appropriate.
