Some council services will be closed on Friday 3 April 2026 and Monday 6 April 2026.
As part of the Council’s Town Centre Masterplan, which is a bold blueprint for development opportunities and investments across the borough, Mell Square will undergo an exciting redevelopment under the new name of Holbeche Place.
In February, the Council approved Muse’s plans to transform Mell Square with up to 1,600 homes, retail, and new public spaces.
To minimise disruption to shoppers, visitors and businesses, work is being delivered in phases. As part of phase 1, the Mell Square car park and public toilets will close on Tuesday 31 March 2026. This is so we can begin safely decommissioning services and equipment ahead of demolition in June.
