Professionals, schools, and other partners are a valuable part of the Solihull HAF Programme.

This page provides information about:

  • making a referral
  • working with us on provision
  • supporting children to access clubs

Supporting eligible children to access holiday clubs

We ask that you encourage all known children and families who receive benefits-related Free School Meals to book places with HAF providers. 

Children who attend a Solihull school will have received an email to show proof of entitlement and the child’s Solihull HAF code, which they must show to providers when making a booking. 

If you are a school, you may have provision running in the school or very close by that you can promote to eligible families. 

Solihull HAF professional referral

This form is for professionals to refer children and young people for Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) places in Solihull who are not eligible for Free School Meals.

Eligibility criteria one

Referrals can be made for children and young people who are not entitled to free school meals, but are:

  • children on a Child Protection Plan (CPP)
  • Children in Need (CIN)
  • children on a Targeted Help Plan

Eligibility criteria two

Referrals can only be made for children who meet the following criteria if they are also in receipt of Universal Credit:

  • children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
    • accessing SEN Support, an EHCP or EHCP under assessment.
  • young carers
  • home educated children
  • looked after child (excluding residential care arrangements)

Universal credit check

If the child is applying due to the second eligibility criteria, we will need to complete a Universal Credit check.

If this is required, you must:

  • provide contact details for the parent or carer
  • get agreement from the parent or carer for a Universal Credit check

Make a professional referral

Your HAF code

The code can be shared with the family to book HAF activities. We aim to process your referral within seven working days.

The code will be valid until the end of Summer HAF 2027 and will begin with the letters “SMBC” followed by numbers.
