16 Days of Activism 2025

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign began yesterday (Tuesday November 25).

The annual campaign runs from November 25 (the international day for the elimination of violence against women) to December 10 (international human rights day).

This year, the 16 Days campaign follows directly on from our “Solihull stands together against domestic abuse” marketing campaign, which has been running since the summer.

To mark the start of the campaign, a launch event was held at the Core Theatre yesterday evening, hosted by the Leader of the Council, Councillor Karen Grinsell, and the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Annette Mackenzie.

The Mayor of Solihull said: “Last night’s launch event is just one of many taking place across Solihull throughout the 16 Days, helping raise awareness of the forms domestic abuse can take and the support available to anyone who needs it.

“I’d really encourage people to consider visiting some of the Soroptomist displays, speaking to our council and Women’s Aid colleagues at stall events, or taking part in tonight’s Glow Walk.

The Leader of the Council added: “We’re committed to working with West Midlands Police, Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid, and other partners, standing together against domestic abuse, in all the forms it can take.

“Whether it’s physical, emotional, financial or honour-based, abuse can take many different forms.

“Regardless of the form it takes, help is available. More information on support for Solihull residents is available on the council website.
