Artwork winner and runners up from Solihull schools celebrated

Mayor of Solihull and Leader of Solihull Council with artwork winner and runners up from Solihull schools.

The Mayor of Solihull invited the winner and runners up of the Solihull Schools Artwork Competition 2025 to the parlour to celebrate their artistic achievements and congratulate them on their hard work.

Children from schools across Solihull submitted artwork that was judged by a panel of Solihull Council staff, including the Leader of the Council, Councillor Karen Grinsell.

On the day, parents, teachers, and children arrived for refreshments at the Civic Suite, where they were greeted by the Mayor. They were then invited to the Mayoral Parlour, where their artwork had been put on display.

Each young artist then had a photo holding their artwork with the Mayor, celebrating their dedication and creativity.

Speaking to those in attendance, Councillor Annette Mackenzie, Mayor of Solihull, said:

Thank you all for coming today. It was a pleasure to see all the wonderful artwork displayed around the parlour, and to meet the talented children behind the pieces. I would like to specially thank all the teachers and parents involved, for all their support, and to the children who put forward their pieces.”

Councillor Karen Grinsell, Leader of Solihull Council and Cabinet Member for Children & Education, added:

Well done to all the children for their fantastic artwork. Being on the judging panel, it was so difficult to choose our winner, but it was a pleasure to see all the hard work and creativity on display in our children across Solihull. This is the second year that we have run this competition, and it was great to see the many art pieces submitted by children from a range of schools across the borough.

Our newly published Council Plan puts children at the heart of everything that we do. We hope that teachers and parents will continue to support and inspire the next generation to keep their creative passions alive, and as a Council we will continue to champion their talent.

All the children’s artwork from the competition will be on display in the Children’s Services area of the Council House.
