Christmas message from the Mayor of Solihull

With Christmas swiftly upon us, it is a crucial time to come together, celebrate and reflect on the past year and our hopes for the future.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Mayor so far, even with my previous 11 years as a Councillor, the experience of being the first citizen of the borough has been eye-opening, rewarding, and a total privilege.

Solihull is a truly wonderful place to call home and holds a special place in my heart. I feel truly honoured to represent all our brilliant residents as Mayor.

As the colder months continue, I encourage all residents to check-in on their loved ones, friends, and neighbours, especially those who are older or who have existing health conditions.

It is this community spirit that so many Solihull volunteers demonstrate to support people less fortunate or who simply need the support of others.

Throughout the year, I have met with dedicated individuals and groups who are working selflessly to improve the lives of others. We are lucky to be surrounded by such a caring and warm community, and I’m deeply grateful for them and their tireless efforts.

We are also fortunate to benefit from a range of diverse cultures here in Solihull, and I am grateful for the opportunities that I have had to participate in the many cultural celebrations over the past months.

With 2026 soon upon us, and while it won’t be without its challenges for everyone, there will still be many things to celebrate and be grateful for.

I am looking forward to welcoming my guests to the Mayor’s Charity Event in April 2026, which will raise money for my fantastic charities.

My chosen charities: Cameron Grant Memorial Trust, Newlands Bishop Farm, and Our Voice, Our Services (OVOS), are all brilliant organisations that are very close to my heart.

I hope the fundraiser, will raise substantial funds to help them continue their essential work, and I would be delighted to see as many Solihull residents as possible attend.

Finally, I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
