We’re calling on all residents to shine a spotlight on the incredible local individuals and community groups making an active difference in Solihull, by submitting nominations for this year’s Civic Honours Awards.
The awards are your opportunity to champion the local unsung heroes and recognise them for the fantastic work they do within their community and their efforts to ensure Solihull is a better place to live for all.
Individuals and groups can also self-nominate to be considered for the awards.
The winners will be crowned at an awards ceremony on Tuesday 21 April 2026 in the following categories:
- The Good Neighbour Award: an individual who helps to make the neighbourhood a better place to live, on a regular basis or through a single act of kindness.
- The Volunteer Contribution Award: recognises and celebrates the outstanding dedication, commitment, and impact of individual and group volunteers.
- The Small Community Group or Charity of the Year Award: celebrates local community groups and local charities that have made a significant impact within their communities over the last year.
- The Health & Wellbeing Award: recognises individuals, groups or organisations that have made outstanding contributions to improving physical or mental health within their communities.
- The Community Innovation Award: recognises individuals, groups, or organisations that have introduced new ideas, demonstrated creativity, or pioneered fresh approaches to community challenges. Celebrating innovation and its positive impact, honouring those who have launched first-of-its-kind initiatives, reimagined solutions, or made meaningful advancements that shape a better future.
- The Breaking Down Barriers Award: recognises local charities, groups, organisations and individuals that actively work to remove obstacles and create opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds, promoting inclusivity, equity, and social mobility.
- The VCFSE Organisational Leadership Award: recognises an outstanding paid or unpaid leader within the Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, strengthened their organisation, and made a lasting impact in their community
- The Community Parenting Award: Celebrates the contribution of organisations and individuals that support care-experienced children and young people. This includes fostering programmes, services for care leavers and mentoring schemes.
- The Mayor’s Award: recognises an individual or organisation who has made an outstanding contribution to the lives of people in the borough, or who has raised the profile of Solihull regionally, nationally or internationally. This special recognition is selected personally by the Mayor and reflects the values, priorities, and spirit of her Mayoral year. It honours a person or organisation whose contribution to the community has made a meaningful impact, as identified by the Mayor herself. Nominations for this award are not open to the public.

These awards are a chance for us to shine a spotlight on the incredible contributions to the community and celebrate the many community groups and individuals who often go above and beyond to help others across the borough. I would encourage everyone to take a moment to submit their nominations and help us recognise those who truly make a difference in Solihull.”
