Solihull Council’s new Council Plan 2025-2030 was approved at a Full Council meeting on Tuesday 8 July 2025.
The Council Plan is the Council’s most important document. It sets out the vision for Solihull and the role of the Council in achieving this.
The new plan reflects the goals, challenges and opportunities facing the Council, residents, businesses and other stakeholders over the coming years. It outlines the Council’s seven ambitions which centre around improving people's lives so that everyone is supported to thrive and achieve the best possible outcomes. The plan is based on a new vision – ‘Solihull: a great place to live, work, invest and enjoy’, which seeks to capture what is best and most unique about Solihull.
The 2025-2030 plan also outlines the Council’s updated organisational values (ambitious, adaptable, respectful and trustworthy) which guide day-to-day decisions and behaviour, following a consultation with Council staff. It also includes a pledge to put children and young people at the heart of everything the Council does.
A two-phase programme of engagement with residents and local organisations informed the final version of the plan. A consultation with stakeholders held between January and March 2025, focused on the Council’s vision and the most important topics for the new plan to focus on. This was followed up by a five-week public consultation in May and June, to inform the final plan.
Councillor Karen Grinsell – Leader of Solihull Council – said:
“I am delighted that our new Council Plan 2025-2030 has been approved. It will guide us in the direction that we want to go in as a Council, how we aim to travel that journey and what we want to see over the next five years.
“I would like to thank everyone who took part in our public consultation, your input was crucial in shaping the plan and ensuring it addressed the priorities that matter most to our communities. As a result, I believe our new Council Plan successfully reflects the ambitions, challenges and opportunities faced by the Council, and the people of Solihull.”
