Solihull Council’s Cabinet will next week (Tuesday 29 September) discuss the latest iteration of the Local Plan.
Members will be asked to endorse the Draft Submission Plan and recommend that Full Council (on Tuesday 6 October) approves it for publication.
If agreed, the plan will be published for six weeks to allow residents and other interested parties to comment on the plan. These comments should focus on its soundness and legal compliance.
Following this, the Council will submit the plan to the Secretary of State for independent examination.
Councillor Andrew Mackiewicz, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Climate Change and Planning, said: “At the heart of the planning system is the need to plan positively for sustainable development, and one of the main ways this is achieved is by having a local plan.
“This plan seeks to protect the features that make Solihull a special place to live, such as the Green Belt and Meriden Gap; whilst meeting Government targets and providing homes and jobs suitable for all – in a managed and sustainable way.
“This latest version incorporates the feedback from the consultation held earlier in the year, as well as responding to the significant changes to national planning policy over recent years.”
