Fostering fact finding to mark Foster Care Fortnight

Foster for Solihull are marking this year’s Foster Care Fortnight (11 – 25 May), with a number of face-to-face events, meaning it’s easy to find out more about what fostering is really like.

Experienced fostering experts will be using the fortnight-long programme of events, to discuss how even for people who work full-time, being a carer needn’t be a barrier to joining Solihull’s amazing family of foster carers.

There is a genuine need for more people to become carers, with various different types of fostering, from respite to short term, and emergency to long term plus many more. This includes Family Links – caring for a child or young person with a disability, over some weekends and short breaks away from their family.

A number of opportunities are scheduled across Foster Care Fortnight, to enable people who might consider fostering, to find out more. With in-person events in Solihull town centre at John Lewis, Gail’s Bakery and on High Street, plus stands at Resorts World and Birmingham Pride. Furthermore, monthly online evening information sessions have now been re-introduced, for people who might find it difficult to get to one of the other events. The virtual sessions are the perfect way for people wanting to know more, with the ability to ask questions without needing to leave their front room.

Foster Care Fortnight is a national celebration, to highlight the fabulous and unwavering work of foster carers everywhere. The brainchild of The Fostering Network, the UK’s leading fostering charity, it aims to put fostering firmly on the national agenda.
