Solihull Council is inviting council tenants to have their say on a proposed new tenancy agreement.
The existing tenancy agreement has been reviewed and updated to make it clearer, easier to understand and in line with current laws, building safety requirements and housing standards.
As the landlord of approximately 10,000 council properties, managed by Solihull Community Housing (SCH), the Council is legally required to provide tenants with a written tenancy agreement setting out their rights and responsibilities, rent and service charge arrangements, and repair obligations.
Tenants and residents are now being encouraged to read the proposed agreement and share their views as part of a public consultation.
Councillor Mark Parker, Solihull Council Cabinet Member for Housing, said:
"We want all our tenants to have the opportunity to comment on the proposed tenancy agreement before it is finalised. It is important that the agreement is clear, fair and fit for purpose, and that tenants understand how it affects them and their homes.
"Listening to our tenants is a key priority for the Council and SCH. The feedback we receive through this consultation will help us shape the final version of the agreement and ensure it reflects the needs and expectations of our residents.
"We will be writing to all tenants about the consultation, but there’s no need to wait for your letter. The consultation is open now and we would encourage everyone to take part."
People can view the proposed tenancy agreement, plus all the relevant information and have their say on the dedicated tenancy agreement webpage.
The consultation will close at 23:59 on Sunday 15 November.
All feedback will be reviewed and considered, with any changes made before the revised tenancy agreement is presented for approval.
Subject to approval, the new tenancy agreement is expected to come into effect from April 2027.
