New Here2Help Advice Service to launch in October

A brand new Here2Help Advice Service will launch from 1 October, expanding advice and support into more communities across Solihull.

Funded by Solihull Council and delivered by Citizens Advice Solihull Borough in partnership with Colebridge Trust, Entraide, Gateway Family Services and Shelter, the new service will deliver free, independent advice and support to residents across Solihull.

This replaces the existing Community Advice Hubs with face-to-face advice in a range of trusted community venues, meaning residents in the future will be able to access advice across all 17 wards, as well as through a dedicated phone line.

During the initial launch period the service will prioritise urgent enquiries and support people already on the waiting list whilst advisers complete training, before the phased opening of in-person venues begin.

Residents can access support or find out more about venues coming in their area by visiting www.casb.org.uk or calling 0121 788 6527.

Kerry Turner MBE, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Solihull, said:

“We’re really excited to be delivering this new service in the heart of local communities.

“As we expand the information and advice service from the current provision of two in-person locations to at least one in every single ward, there will be a phased roll-out of support, with help and advice available through our phone lines.

“We look forward to announcing more information about our in-person venues over the coming weeks. We want to ensure we reach every community so please contact me via email at here2helpadviceservice@casb.org.uk if there are any venues you would like to see in your area.”

The service can support on a wide range of issues including welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment, consumer, disability rights, adult social care, health and immigration.

Councillor Tony Dicicco, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care and Health at Solihull Council, said:

“The new service builds on our existing Here2Help campaign and will help people to find the right support, in the right place, at the right time.

“By bringing support closer to where people live, the service will make accessing advice easier and more convenient, enabling us to support more people.

“On behalf of the Council, I would also like to place on record our thanks and appreciation to Age UK Solihull as they conclude their contract with us for the information and advice service."
