On Wednesday 3 June, talented pupils were applauded by the Mayor of Solihull for their fabulous artistic work, as part of the Solihull Rotary Young Artist 2026 competition.
Students from Solihull schools Langley Primary and Tudor Grange Primary Academy were in for an after-school treat as they, their teachers, and their family members were welcomed into the Civic Suite by the Mayoral team. The invited students were a mixture of category winners and highly commended participants. After everyone had the chance to settle into the Mayor’s Parlour, each child was given a certificate and congratulated by the Mayor for their imaginative and creative work.
The Mayor of Solihull expressed how he was delighted to receive the star pupils, their families and the dedicated volunteers at the Rotary Club:
“It was a pleasure to see such talent and enthusiasm for the arts from our young people here in Solihull - every piece of work I saw was so unique and expressive.
“It’s truly special that the Rotary Club are offering Solihull’s youth the opportunity to nurture their creative sides, and I applaud all of the volunteers involved in organising the competition.”
The Solihull Rotary Young Artist competition has been running for three years, and is an opportunity for young people to express their passion for creativity and the arts. It is a national competition, beginning with local heats, then district heats, and a national final to finish. The Rotary Club also offers competitions in Solihull such as Young Chef, Young Photographer, and previously the Young Musician contest, which ran for 17 years before the Covid-19 outbreak hit.
