Solihull Council has recently published the first Annual Report for the Council Plan 2025-2030, reflecting the Council’s achievements and highlights from April 2025 to March 2026.
The report highlights progress against the Council Plan’s seven ambitions and how the Council will work to deliver them.
Among this year’s standout achievements were Solihull Children’s Services being rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted for the first time in its history, Chelmsley Wood East being selected for £20 million Pride in Place programme funding last September, and the launch of two targeted employment programmes, Connect to Work and the Youth Trailblazer.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Karen Grinsell, commented:
‘It’s been a momentous year in terms of our achievements. I’m especially proud to say that Solihull Council has been rated among the highest performing local authorities for Adult Social Care in 2026, fulfilling our ambitions to provide services that people need in the right place at the right time, and supporting adults to maximise wellbeing and independence.”
“We have also been named one of the UK’s strongest business growth hotspots, showing that we are an attractive place for employees to live, organisations to invest in, and people outside of the borough to visit.”
As part of the Council Plan ambition to create opportunities and achieve fairer outcomes while tackling climate change, the Council hosted the Solihull Going Electric Roadshow. The event marked the announcement of a partnership with charge point operator Qwello to deliver up to 500 new public EV charging points across the borough. On top of this, the Town Centre Energy Network made significant progress, with the new Energy Centre at Tudor Grange Park almost complete. Once operational, it will provide cleaner and more efficient energy to key public buildings in the town centre.
