Solihull Council has successfully prosecuted a Solihull business for the sale of alcohol to a minor.
In a test purchase operation conducted by Trading Standards officers from the Council’s Regulatory Services team last August, alcohol was sold to an underage test purchaser at The Vineyard (14 Cheswick Way, Cheswick Green, Solihull, B90 4JA). No age-related checks were carried out.
On Thursday 10 September 2026, at Birmingham Magistrates Court, the court found the business (The Vineyard Global Ltd) guilty of the underage sale of an age-restricted product. The company was fined £1,000, with an extra £1,000 towards costs and a £400 victim surcharge.
Councillor Wazma Qais, Cabinet Member for Communities & Leisure, said:
“We are pleased with the outcome of this case and thank the Regulatory Services team for their professionalism, dedication, and continued efforts to help keep Solihull safe.
“We are committed to ensuring that businesses operating in the borough do so legally. This is not only for alcohol but for the sale of any age-restricted products, including: knives, tobacco, vaping products, fireworks, etc.
